OUR FIRST LIVE here on Substack is scheduled for Monday, June 16th @ 2pm CST with from the Female Body Politic.
Please mark your calendars! If you cannot be with us live, there will be a replay available here and later this summer on YouTube.
If you haven’t seen any of Lorissa’s work (I’ve shared a couple via email earlier this year) — Lorissa is doing exactly what I have been ‘preaching’ for more of us to be doing: digging into a section or time of the past, finding female or marginalized voices and resurrecting them for all.
When we know we were actually PART of the past, not just silent due to being erased or power plays, we get this odd sense of power to KEEP at it in the present day and age.
I’m beyond honored to have Lorissa as our first Live interview where we will dig into how she shed the patriarchal lens to get at the past from the wider angle lens, about her new book that resurrects Jeanette Rankin (I’ve mentioned this trailblazer woman in one of my latest episodes, brownie points for whomever can mention the episode and what she did for all of us!), if we can truly redeem ourselves through our current constitution or if it is time for a new one, and so much more.

TODAY’S VIDEO TOPIC
When HERstory is Mising from History, women spend endless amount of energy recreating movements to liberate not just themselves, but also their children and all of humanity.
Today is a compliation of videos from YT ad TikTok that I felt were vital for us to have here as well.
We start off reading from the Women’s Liberation Bible 🎆 “The Creation of Patriarchy,”
Move onto more ideas that stem from our Bible,
And end with THE BEST ANALOGY I have ever heard about all of the free and slave labor people of color and women have given to build patriarchy.
Here is the quote that starts off the book…and that I am reading from in the first of these videos talking about Gerda’s work.
“Women’s History is indispensable and essential to the emancipation of women. After 25 years of researching, writing, and teaching Women’s History, I have come to this conviction on theoretical and practical grounds. The theoretical arguement will be more fully developed in this book; the practical arguement rests on my observations of the profound changes in consciousness which students of Women’s History experience. Women’s History changes their lives. Even short-term exposure to the past experience of women, such as in two-week institutes and seminars, has the most profound psychological effect on women participants.”
~ “The Creation of Patriarchy,” by Gerda Lener, page 3 of Introduction
